The Wipster Workflow And Collaboration Process

Good films usually share one thing in common – good communication. In today’s scattered production and post workflows in which many hands are “stirring the pot”, it can get complicated. Although collaborative editing is picking up steam among professional editors, a common collaborative review process is more difficult, especially if your collaborators (clients, producers, crew members, etc.) don’t have the technical know-how on using an NLE, or how to deal with something simple such as QuickTime files or an FTP site. Well, consider your problems solved and throw out that external DVD burner on your desk – it’s 2015!Wipster is one of the coolest platforms I’ve seen dealing with video collaboration and review.

One of it’s strengths is its simplicity. (It has a beautiful UI that resembles Vimeo instead of YouTube.) It also has the familiar feel of social media, which should make your non-tech collaborators comfortable.

In terms of the process, you simply upload your work in progress and email it to your collaborators directly from the site. Once they receive it, they click on a link that directs them to the site where they begin making notes and giving feedback. Once their feedback is logged, you receive an email giving you the exact frame and note, as well as a reply button to return to Wipster to see the video again. (No more corralling dozens of emails over the course of your project.)

Another cool feature on the Wipster site is that all of the comments made on your video are listed in a to-do list where you can check off comments after making the change, as well as replying to them. It’s a service that will only make your project – whether creative or corporate – better!
