CANON LIVE BLOGGING

Canon‘s new VIXIA mini compact personal camcorder will allow shooters to record and share videos to their favorite social-network sites like YouTube and Facebook via built-in WiFi or the free Canon Movie Uploader app. There’s also a Live Streaming app, Canon CameraAccess2, that lets you control the mini remotely from your iOS or Android device. The mini has an ultrawide-angle Canon ƒ/2.8 fisheye lens (160º movies/170º photos) similar in viewing angle to GoPro’s HERO3 (170º). You can toggle between wide-angle and a Close-Up Mode where you can record a centered 1920×1440-resolution image by touching the camcorder’s 2.7-inch capacitive-tilt touch-panel LCD display. The display is attached by two parallel hinges that allow you to monitor low-, high- and self-angle shots with mirrored capability for viewing yourself. The camcorder also has a 12.8-megapixel CMOS sensor with Canon’s DIGIC DV 4 image processor that allows you to record full HD video in MP4 format as well as JPEG stills to a removable microSD card. The mini contains a mechanical shutter for shooting moving subjects with less distortion, and it records high-quality audio with a built-in stereo microphone. You can select different audio modes that will match your surroundings, such as live music, road noise or others. An optional VIXIA mini carrying case and strap are available in black or white. List Price: $299 (VIXIA mini); $14 (CS-10 VIXIA mini case and strap). Contact: Canon, (800) OK-CANON, www.usa.canon.com.
