NOW AVAILABLE IN 3-D

The SI-3D, Silicon Imaging’s stereoscopic camera setup for capturing high-definition 3-D video, is an evolution in 3-D setups. Conventional systems use independent left and right cameras to capture two channels of video. The SI-3D circumvents the elaborate postprocessing involved in correcting alternating color controls, record start, time code, content management and monitoring outputs resulting from independent capture with two different cameras. It does so by capturing uncompressed raw imagery with two synchronized SI-2K cameras and encoding them to a single stereo CineForm RAW QuickTime file. The stereo file, which includes 3-D LUT color and convergence metadata, then can be played back and edited in full 3-D on an Apple Final Cut timeline without the need for proxy conversions. Each camera can be viewed individually or `in stereo mixed modes with modern 3-D LCD and DLP displays; control of the SI-3D is performed via a SiliconDVR touch-screen interface. Various tools are available for adjusting focus, lighting and 3-D effects, including alignment grid overlays, false color zebras, digital zooming, edge detection, spot meters, dual histograms, parallax shifts, anaglyph mixing and wiggle displays. The SI-3D records dual-stream, 12-bit directly to mobile 2.5-inch solid-state drives with peak rates up to 200 MBps (1.6 Gbps), with a total recording time of up to one hour of footage per camera.
