LIVE PRODUCTION CAPABILITIES

The TriCaster 850 EXTREME from NewTek offers a full onsite production board and 3D animation system in a compact unit. The NewTek IsoCorder multitrack recording technology provides up to eight channels of recorded video from either inputs or outputs, with direct network support of any Apple AirPlay-enabled application or device, as well as EQ and compressor/limiter capabilities on every audio input and output. MODULAR STABILITY

The artemis Cine HD Pro from Sachtler revises the traditional functions of previous systems, offering a new 1.8-inch post with a no-tool clamp and a refined gimbal with more control, higher precision and nicer handling. Dual video processing allows HD/SDI and SD video signals to be used simultaneously, and hot-swap technology allows continuous powering, even while changing batteries, so that the camera, monitor and radio channels can stay live. HiCap wiring provides more than 200 watts to the camera and can work in tandem with the hot-swap technology for longer battery operation. The modular design of the artemis systems also allows previous systems to be upgraded with the new CT2 1.8-inch post and gimbal, and the functionality of the Cine HD Pro can be expanded with available modules. With several new camcorders being released with large CMOS sensors, Carl Zeiss has released two new mounts for its popular CP.2 lenses. The MFT mount is suitable for new professional camcorders, and the E mount is aimed at the latest Sony E-mount camcorders like the NEX-FS100U. Zeiss is releasing all nine fixed focal lengths of the Compact Prime CP.2 series from 18mm to 100mm. Canon is introducing two advanced PL-mount lenses that target the emerging 4K production standards. The FK14.5-60 wide-angle cine zoom and FK30-300 telephoto cine zoom are precision-matched zoom lenses that incorporate breakthrough Canon optical designs, which optimize and enhance multiple imaging attributes while minimizing optical aberrations and distortions. The new 4K Mode for AJA‘s popular KONA 3G video capture card supports true 4K playout and monitoring for the ultimate in resolution. Autodesk has updated its comprehensive line of software for animation, visual effects, editorial finishing and color grading with the 2012 Digital Entertainment Creation suite of programs. Flame Premium 2012 offers a finishing solution for real-time color grading and 3D visual effects, with new features such as stereoscopic 3D finishing enhancements, improvements to workflows and a new relighting mode for changing the look of a scene thanks to lighting, shading, shadows and 3D lens flares. Flare works as its assistant, with powerful 3D node-based compositing. HIGH OUTPUT

Utilizing a high-performance array of 72 one-watt daylight (5600º K) LEDs for a light output equivalent to a 1000w legacy lighting fixture, the H2 Hi-Output LED from Litepanels extends illumination over a long 20- to 25-foot distance while using only an approximate 10% of the energy of traditional bulbs. Focused to a 10º angle, the LED lights generate limited heat, and the H2 can be dimmed from 100% to zero with minimal color shift via the onboard knob or through a DMX dimmer board. Expanding its line of portable hard-disk recording products for audio, the PIX 220 and PIX 240 recorders from Sound Devices offer video capabilities as well, with a 5-inch, 800×480-pixel LCD display for checking recording, playback and audio metering. A side-panel rotary control and four front-panel buttons provide access to setup options, and the large, illuminated record controls give instant confirmation of recording status. Both models connect to a camera over HDMI and record Apple ProRes 422 or optional Avid DNxHD QuickTime files to CompactFlash or removable 2.5-inch solid-state hard drives.
