SINGLE-CAMERA STEREOSCOPIC

Circumventing the large-scale two-camera and mirrored setups and dual recorders of traditional 3D systems, the soon-to-be-released twin-lens Full HD 3D camcorder from Panasonic uses a single camera head with two lenses and a dual memory card recorder to capture high-definition, three-dimensional video. The convergence point and other features can be adjusted, and there are functions for automatically correcting horizontal and vertical displacement in-camera. Solid-state memory file-based recording on SDHC/SD cards provides shock- and temperature-resistant right- and left-channel video streaming, and the smaller size and lighter weight than other 3D setups gives flexibility for shooting in challenging environments—making it a workable solution in the field, ideal for sports, documentaries and filmmaking. A Full HD 3D LCD monitor is also planned for review of captured 3D video on location. List Price: $21,000. Contact: Panasonic, (800) 211-PANA, www.panasonic.com/broadcast.
