ZACUTO GRATICAL HD
Zacuto, makers of the very first LCD EVF, announced their latest incarnation, the Gratical HD. Powered by an EOS-type battery, this viewfinder packs a full 720p resolution on an OLED screen. It comes with both HDMI and SDI loop-through, meaning you can run your signal out to another monitor. If your input comes in HDMI, it can loop out either HDMI or SDI via an internal signal conversion.
This device allows you to add a LUT so you can see what your final image will look like. The versatility of the Gratical HD allows you not only to add the LUT, but also the histogram, waveform monitor and zebra to either the Gratical HD itself or to another monitor. You can also save your custom LUTs via USB.
The Gratical HD should be available in January 2015, with an estimated street price of $3,600. www.zacuto.com

EDELKRONE FOCUSONE PRO
Edelkrone’s FocusONE PRO represents a major improvement for camera operators who pull their own focus. The system is revolutionary simply because it turns the marker disk to face the camera operator directly. The FocusONE PRO allows you to easily reposition the entire marker disk, instead of always marking and cleaning it.
Its marker disk reads directly from the drive gear, making it more precise than the traditional follow focus. Its reverse gear is simple and fast to activate, allowing you to work the same way with all types of lenses. It attaches to a single, industry-standard 15mm rod and can be made to fit 19mm rods via an adapter. The FocusONE PRO also articulates, letting you work from multiple positions, and you can also attach it to either side of the lens.
The Edelkrone FocusONE PRO is available now for $289.99. www.edelkrone.com
