Sundance 2017 — Canon Creative Studio Schedule At Park City

Canon Sundance 2017 — The camera company is throwing quite the party in Park City with filmmaker panels and hands on interactive sessions with new equipment
Founded in 1985, Sundance has become the most famous independent film festival in the world! This year HDVideoPro will be on the ground at Sundance 2017 from January 19-24th with interviews and updates. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for breaking news.

Canon has announced their upcoming slate of events this upcoming week at Sundance! Featuring a six-part filmmaker panel series and the free signups for Live Learning Sessions with professional filmmakers and Canon engineers, they will also have several of their latest cameras on hand, including the C300 Mark II, EOS 5D Mark IV, ME20F-SH, XC15, and new flagship for the Cinema EOS family of cameras, the EOS C700. Other highlights include legacy documentary filmmaker Rory Kennedy, who will speak about her film on iconic surfer Laird Hamilton, captured with the C300 Mark II, and a special “low light” session called Cinema EOS After Dark with cinematographer Eve Cohen. (See an interview with Cohen on her VR work for a chilling film called The Visitor from last year’s Slamdance DIG fest here.)

In addition to having the new C700 on hand, there will be a special offsite screening of The Calling with director Tyler Stableford, followed by Q&A. We interviewed Stableford about the shoot using prototypes of Canon’s new flagship Cinema EOS for the January issue of Digital Photo Pro, which is on stands now. He chose Russell Carpenter, ASC, of Titanic fame, as cinematographer for the short. Carpenter gave us a companion interview on using the C700 for The Calling here. (See my pics of the oft-mentioned prototype EOS C700 cameras at the ASC in Hollywood here.)

For those of you attending Sundance, Canon is basing the Creative Studio at 592 Main St, Park City, Utah, 84060. RSVP here to find out more. Lots more stuff to check out below!
