SEEING DAYLIGHT
Offered as an affordable, DMX-free LED solution for smaller budgets and location shooting, the Litepanels 1x1 LS includes a similar feature set and the same accessory compatibility of the popular 1x1 LED line of studio lights but at a lower cost. The flicker-free soft-light output, dimmable from 0-100% without color shift, is available in daylight-balanced flood (50º beam) or spot (30º beam). With light output comparable to a 200-watt HMI, the unit draws only 45 watts of power via the included 100-240VAC adapter, and it can be powered through any Gold Mount or V-Mount professional battery. Average lamp life is 50,000 hours and guarantees a long-term investment. Estimated Street Price: $1,255. Contact: Litepanels, (818) 752-7009, www.litepanels.com.

MATROX MICROQUAD
Matrox has announced the first quad SDI-to-HDMI multi-viewer to be commercially available at under $1,000. The MicroQuad features monitoring of up to four SDI inputs on a single HDMI display in quadrant view. Full screen can be toggled at the touch of a button and inputs are available in 3G, HD or SD. The 10-bit scaling engine with advanced filtering methods offers an artifact-free monitoring experience. There also are visual VU meters on the HDMI output for checking audio levels, a Windows-based application for controlling the unit remotely and customized labels for identifying each input. A development library allows OEMs to integrate features of the remote control application into their own software, as well, and the unit is self-contained so no computer is required. List Price: $995. Contact: Matrox, (800) 361-4903, www.matrox.com/video.

SLIDING MATTE BOX
With wide-angle coverage of up to 18mm on full-frame (24x36mm) cameras and up to 15mm with sensors like those found in the Canon C300, ARRI ALEXA, RED and SONY F3/FS100 cameras, the MAT-BOX PRO system includes a complete interface-mounting system that's compatible with most still lenses on the market. The lens extension will push or pull the MAT-BOX on industry-standard 15mm rods to quickly make adjustments shot by shot. The Sliding Base will compensate for focus breathing or extreme zoom extensions when changing the lens focal. The rayshade's internal low-pile radiosity pollution killer (RPK) surface treatment offers absorption of over 99% of visible light at all angles of incidence for reducing stray light that results in poor image contrast. The MAT-BOX PRO includes a 95mm Ultra-Thin mounting ring, two filter stages (4x4 and 4x5.65 inches) in one rotating stage, compact French Flag with Velcro® extensions for storage and Side Wings harness. List Price: $1,349. Contact: LockCircle, www.lockcircle.com.

CAGE MATCH
Accommodating full-sized DSLRs like the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, the Flashpoint Hollywood HD-SLR Camera Cage (FPCCWC) is offered as a compact and affordable alternative to full-scale video rigs. The cage is precision-machined from black-anodized aluminum with various industry-standard 1⁄4"-20 and 3⁄8"-16 threaded sockets for adding extras like lights, sound recorders, microphones, monitors and more. A built-in HDMI cable protector keeps the delicate port safe during recording, and aligned cutouts provide access to camera controls, memory card slots, LCD screens and battery compartments. A hand grip is included topside for low-angle shooting and comfortable carrying. A bracket also is supplied for attaching two included 15mm rods to mount matte boxes or follow-focus units. Estimated Street Price: $149. Contact: Flashpoint (Adorama), (800) 223-2500, www.adorama.com.
