From initial concept to final feature, there are more possibilities for independent video productions than ever before. Marcin Teodoru, filmmaker and president of Circle Films, is leading the new guard of ambitious moviemakers who are utilizing the latest in affordable technologies to produce their own content by following their own rules. Omnipresent in the Los Angeles post production world, Teodoru decided six years ago to go it alone rather than continue to work in the background. He opened Circle Films as his own post production facility, and since then, it has blossomed into a full production house with an extended team of creatives.

Capable of overseeing multiple projects from start to finish, Circle Films has produced a variety of music videos, commercials and corporate work, and now they are making the transition to feature film production with Closure. Directed by Teodoru, the story follows a broken man over the course of a single night as he seeks to extract revenge for the murder of his wife and daughter. Closure is also the product of the 30 Day Feature Film Challenge, the brainchild of Teodoru and his production partners, in which the concept was to write, produce, cast and shoot a ninety minute feature film… and to do it all in only thirty days.

Thanks principally to an online social media push, Closure and the 30 Day Feature Film Challenge have both garnered a great deal of attention. Relying almost entirely on donated time and equipment, the final film is indicative of just how much a group of talented and dedicated individuals can accomplish with the right mindset and the right tools. The entire production was shot in only five days, and it is now near completion in post. At the same time as Teodoru and crew were putting together the film, they were also documenting the trials and tribulations of producing a full length production at a breakneck speed on an ultra micro budget.

Shooting Closure and the accompanying documentary at the same time involved an intense workflow for Teodoru and his team. With three sets of working drives for post and three backups for safety, Teodoru’s latest count is approximately thirty terabytes of data. He thanks G-Tech for their invaluable assistance in managing such huge amounts of video files, and he points out that it was one of the goals of the project to test the limits of available systems on an independent film level, and G-Tech’s fast and reliable drives enabled his team to cut everything in full HD without slowdown and without worry.
