Shown at last month's AES Convention, the ADAM Audio A77X is a high-performance, self-powered monitoring system in a low-profile, horizontal cabinet that's ideal for under-screen use. The A77X is a triamplified three-way design, utilizing two 7-inch drivers—one voiced for midrange, the other as a subwoofer—each driven by onboard 100-watt RMS amplifiers. Highs are handled by the company's proprietary X-ART folded-ribbon tweeter/50-watt amp combination, for an overall response that's spec'd at 38 Hz to 50 kHz, with under 0.5% distortion and 122 dB peak SPLs. Each 28.2-pound enclosure measures 9.5x21x11 inches and has XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced inputs. Estimated Street Price: $1,399. Contact: ADAM Audio, (516) 681-0690, www.adam-audio.com.
