Not only is German director Wim Wenders (Paris, Texas, Wings of Desire) one of the pioneers of the New German Cinema of the ’70s, he has also been at the forefront of digital technology, having shot several miniDV features, including Buena Vista Social Club and Land of Plenty.

There’s a great article over at IRIDAS Magazine, which showcased Wenders’ latest project–a feature length dance film in tribute to German choreographer Pina Bausch. The film, PINA 3D, was shot in Stereo 3D with Sony HDC-1500 cameras set up on a crane with the camera assistant working CMotion controls in order to monitor exposure, sync, and recording. The filmmakers also used IRIDAS FrameCycler DI, which offers a comprehensive toolset for stereo 3D dailies, RAW processing, and primary color grading of digital movies, as well as a Codex recorder to capture their material.

The filmmakers were so happy with FrameCycler that they obtained another system for their Avid, in order to do a stereo conform on a daily basis.
