Sony Artisan of Imagery David McLain Shoots “The Calling” With The Full-Frame Sony SLT-A99
Sony just put up two great videos shot by photographer and Sony Artisan of Imagery David McLain with the new SLT-A99 camera. Like fellow photographers Vincent Laforet and Chase Jarvis, McLain has immersed himself into cinematography. With the A99 in hand, he traveled to 73 countries, shooting in real-world situations to create a stunning-looking personal diary film. According to McLain in the behind the scenes video, he made great use of the A99′s Creative Style settings where he was able to dial down contrast to achieve more latitude in post. He also stated that he had no rolling shutter issues and enjoyed shooting in 60p for beautiful slo-mo images.
When working on Steadicam, McLain made great use out of the A99′s Translucent Mirror Technology, which employs Phase Detect AF. “It’s worrying about focus while I’m worrying about composition,” he said.
